Opera has released a new version, code named ‘Reborn’, with provision to launch WhatsApp, Telegram and Facebook Messenger from the sidebar.
The Norwegian browser maker (acquired by a Chinese tech company in 2016), has announced that the latest version of its browser is adopting some messaging features from Neon, an experimental version of Opera. The new features include built-in support for Facebook Messenger, Telegram, and WhatsApp in Opera 45. The chat window is available at the same browser window’s sidebar.

Microsoft’s new Windows 10 S is a specific configuration of Windows 10 Pro that offers a familiar, productive Windows experience that’s streamlined for security and performance. However, applications can only be installed through Windows store. Microsoft says “By exclusively using apps in the Windows Store and ensuring that you browse safely with Microsoft Edge, Windows 10 S keeps you running fast and secure day in and day out.”
Windows 10 S will force the users to use Bing as the search engine and Edge as the default browser.

On April 12, Nintendo held an online “Nintendo Direct” presentation, which the company claimed would focus primarily on the upcoming Switch games Arms and Splatoon 2. The entire presentation lasted about 40 minutes, the last 10 of which were devoted to the aforementioned games and the Switch itself. Other Switch games briefly mentioned during the presentation included Payday 2, which is a port of a 2013 game, Minecraft, which is available on practically every other system already, and Rayman Legends, which came to the Wii U nearly four years ago.

Apple is working on wireless charging technology that may allow you to charge your smartphone mid-air, away from your charger sometime in future. This wireless charging won’t be like what Samsung and LG offer on its latest flagships that requires you to place the phone on the charger.
The technique was laid out in a patent that Apple filed in US and first reported by AppleInsider. Titled “Wireless Charging and Communications Systems With Dual-Frequency Patch Antennas”, the patent lists several ideas how the company can make the next level of wireless charging work.

Instagram now has over 700 million monthly active users. The photo and video sharing app, which is owned by Facebook, added 100 million new users in just over four months. The growth rate is faster than the six months it took the popular app to grow from 500 million to 600 million users. And before that, it took the company nine months to grow from 400 million to 500 million users.

In 3D XPoint storage, each data cell does not need a transistor so the storage density can be up to 4 times that of standard DRAM. It offers the incredibly fast speeds and access times of DRAM, but has the capacity of traditional flash storage.

Google is letting people use its driverless car service for any ride at any time.
The search firm’s sister company Waymo has created a free “early rider” programme in Phoenix, Arizona.
Hundreds of families are expected to take part. Waymo has equipped a fleet of 500 minivans with its self-driving technology to handle ride requests.
The company said testers could ride any time across a test zone in Phoenix twice the size of San Francisco.

Scientists have developed a new approach that may lead to increase in the performance of high-power electrical storage devices such as car batteries and also decrease their size. Researchers from Stanford University in the US developed a mathematical model for designing new materials for storing electricity.
“The potential here is that you could build batteries that last much longer and make them much smaller,” said Daniel Tartakovsky, professor at Standford University.

Google is planning to introduce an ad-blocking feature in the mobile and desktop versions of its popular Chrome web browser, according to people familiar with the company’s plans.
The ad-blocking feature, which could be switched on by default within Chrome, would filter out certain online ad types deemed to provide bad experiences for users as they move around the web.
Google could announce the feature within weeks, but it is still ironing out specific details and still could decide not to move ahead with the plan, the people said.
